GenoCommunity Think Tank: First National Meeting

The National Community Committee of the Prevention Research Centers and the Center for Public Health and Community Genomics at the University of Michigan School of Public Health are hosting a two-day GenoCommunity Think Tank: First National Meeting that will promote community engagement, education, and policy development in genomics and health through the following activities:

  • sharing best practices and promising practices for achieving community engagement;
  • sharing information about available funding;
  • developing strategies for promoting community-based participatory genomics research in prevention research centers;
  • developing strategies for promoting genomic applications in community-local public health department practice;
  • sharing information on policy issues and how to engage community members in policy development; and
  • launching a Genomics Special Interest Group within the National Community Committee.

Travel and lodging expenses will be paid for two representatives from community-based/grass roots organizations and two other representatives from academe and/or local public health departments from up to twenty-five Prevention Research Centers.
